Iron County Medical Center Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Services:
Dr. Justin Roberts performs the following surgeries at Iron County Medical Center:
Tonsillectomy: The surgical removal of the tonsils, two oval-shaped pads of tissue at the back of the throat — one tonsil on each side.
Myringotomy with tube (Ear Tubes): A myringotomy is a procedure to create a hole in the ear drum to allow fluid that is trapped in the middle ear to drain out. The fluid may be blood, pus, and/or water. In many cases, a small tube is inserted into the hole in the ear drum to help maintain drainage.
Sinus Surgery – FESS: Today, Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) is one of the most common surgical methods to treat chronic sinus infections. In a FESS procedure, the surgeon uses a magnifying endoscope to see and remove affected tissue and bone.
Septoplasty: Septoplasty is a surgical procedure to straighten the bone and cartilage dividing the space between your two nostrils (septum). When the septum is crooked, it’s known as a deviated septum.
Ultrasound Guided Thyroid Biopsy: An ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration biopsy uses sound waves to help locate a module or abnormality within the thyroid and remove a tissue sample for examination under a microscope. The procedure is less invasive than surgical biopsy, leaves little to no scarring and does not involve exposure to ionizing radiation.
Many other surgeries of the head and neck are also performed by Dr. Roberts at Iron County Medical Center.
