Cook/Dietary Aide


About the Role:

Iron County Medical Center has a position opening for a full time Cook/Dietary Aide in the Dietary Department. Candidate filling this position will be required to work various schedules and days, including some week-ends and holidays.


Responsibilities:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Acknowledge that the patient always comes first, and project a positive “customer service” attitude at all times
  • Prepare and deliver meals and snacks for patients and/or provide assistance with such; prepare ICMC employee meals and snacks as directed including meals for ICMC meetings
  • Correctly follow dietary guidelines and menus to assure all meals meet hospital protocol
  • Practice STANDARD FOOD PREPARATION PRECAUTIONS to protect safety and health of patients, employees and visitors/guests
  • Communicate with patients as necessary to document food likes and dislikes
  • All dietary staff participate in maintaining an extraordinary clean, orderly, and bacteria-free
  • Perform cleaning and dish washing duties as directed
  • Traveling to local grocers to pick up supplies as needed
  • Prioritize duties in line with supervisor directives and needs of patients and staff


Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be able to read, write, add, subtract, and follow specific written and oral instructions
  • Must be able to communicate in an effective and mature manner and understand verbal directives
  • Must demonstrate a positive, friendly attitude to customers (patients, staff, visitors, etc.) at all times
  • Must be able to walk, stand, pull, bend, stoop, safely lift and carry supplies of up to 25 pounds to assigned work areas
  • Must be courteous, tactful, dependable, compassionate, safety and health-conscious
