Med-Surg/ER RN, Full Time, Night Shift

 


Responsibilities:

Acknowledges that the patient always comes first and project an attitude of such at all times.

· Exhibits leadership in achieving standards of care and in collaborations with physicians and other core team members in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individualized patient care in accordance with documented policies, procedures and protocols.

· Complete new patient assessments within the designated time delineated in unit standards.

· Assesses and interprets clinical data collected (lab, x-rays, etc.) regarding the patient and provides timely reports to attending physician and appropriate team members.

· Formulates care plan based on assessment data and performs on-going assessments according to unit standards and documents appropriately and timely.

· Demonstrates knowledge, skills and professionalism necessary to provide care appropriate to age, principles of physical and psychosocial growth and development over the life span, cultural diversity, and learning needs of the patients assigned to the unit at all times.

· Updates, documents and communicates Plan of Care and any changes to Health Care Team (HCT) verbally during the shift an on written daily shift report.

· Reports significant findings of admission and on-going assessments to appropriate HCT members, recognizes changes in patient’s physical and mental status and reports such to attending physician and HCT timely and effectively.

· Develops and initiates discharge planning process.


Skills and Abilities:

Current Missouri License to practice as a Registered Nurse (minimum of Associate Degree in nursing) or as a licensed LPN

· Current BLS and ACLS certification (or obtain within first 3 months of employment)

· Must successfully complete generic and department-specific skills, validation and competency testing

· Critical thinking skills a must

· Commitment to continual improvement of nursing skill set through participating in educational opportunities on and off the job

· Walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, twisting and turning, pushing/pulling objects from awkward positions; ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. and moving patients up to 300 lbs. with assistance; vision, hearing and dexterity skills within normal limits.

· Effective verbal communication skills a must.

Pay:

Pay commensurate with experience.
