Occult Blood

Please read through all instructions entirely before starting collection. If you have any questions about collection please contact your laboratory.

Patient should follow the Patient Instructions for at least 7 days prior to testing and continue through testing period.

Collection Steps:

1. First pass urine in toilet. Collect stool in empty plastic container or place a plastic wrap over toilet and pass stool on the plastic. DO NOT LET URINE OR WATER TOUCH THE STOOL SPECIMEN. If patient is in diapers, line the diaper with plastic wrap so stool does not soak in fibers.

1. Fill out the label, including your name, date of birth, date and time of collection.
2. Open front of card where patient information is filled out.
3. Using applicator provided, collect a small amount of stool and apply a thin smear covering Box A.
4. Reuse the applicator to obtain a second sample, and apply a thin smear covering Box B.
5. Close the flap by tucking tab into slit.
6. Wash hands with soap and water.
7. Keep at room temperature and return to facility within 24 hours of collection.
