ER/Med-Surg RN, FT
About the Role:
Iron County Medical Center has a position opening for a Full Time, Day Shift, ER/Med-Surg RN. Regular work schedule for this position includes rotating weekends.
Responsibilities:
Primary Duties and Responsibilities for this position will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Acknowledge that the patient always comes first and project an attitude of such at all times
- Triage, assess and treat patients who present to ER throughout shift.
- Exhibit leadership in achieving standards of care; collaborate with physicians and other core team members in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized patient care in accordance with documented policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Complete new patient assessments within the designated time delineated in unit standards
- Assess and interpret clinical data collected (lab, x-rays, etc.) regarding the patient and provides timely reports to attending physician and appropriate team members
- Formulates care plan based on assessment data and performs on-going assessments according to unit standards, always documenting appropriately and timely
- Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and professionalism necessary to provide age-appropriate care, as well as principles of physical and psychosocial growth and development over the life span, cultural diversity, and learning needs of the patients assigned to the unit
- Documents, updates, and communicates Plan of Care and any changes of such to Health Care Team (HCT) verbally during the shift and on written daily shift report
- Reports significant findings of admission and on-going assessments to appropriate HCT members, recognizes changes in patient’s physical and mental status and reports such to attending physician and HCT timely and effectively
- Develops and initiates discharge planning process
Skills and Abilities:
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Physical Requirements:
- Current Missouri license to practice as a Registered Nurse (minimum Associate Degree in Nursing)
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Must successfully complete generic and department-specific skills, validation, and competency testing for both ER and Med-Surg
- Critical thinking skills a must
- Commitment to continual improvement of nursing skill set through participation in educational opportunities on and off the job
- Must be physically able to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist and turn, push, and pull – sometimes from awkward positions – safely; ability to safely lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. and assist with moving patients up to three hundred pounds; vision, hearing and dexterity skills must be within normal limits
- Effective verbal communication skills a must, including correct and appropriate use of medical terminology
- Cheerful outlook, respectful, courteous, and tactful
